This extremely rare arboreal species is found only in Indira Gandhi National Park and its surroundings in Tamil Nadu, India. It inhabits the tropical moist evergreen forest of southern Western Ghats at an altitudinal range of 1,000m-1,300m above sea level.
Conservation Status:
This species is listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).
According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining and its current population size is unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is less than 100 sq km. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to plantation outside the National Park and also other human encroachment like wood extraction.
