This species is rare and restricted to Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. It inhabits grasslands, shrublands, and tropical forests of the montane sholas in the southern Western Ghats of India at the altitudes 1,900m -2,300m asl.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is stable, its current population size is unknown. The threat to this species is little known.
