This endemic species is commonly found in the southern Western Ghats of India. It inhabits the riparian habitats in the moist tropical forests of the Ghats, at the heights of 200m - 1,000m asl.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/)


According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining and its population size is currently unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is less than 20,000 sq km. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to plantation, commercial developments, and other human encroachments like logging and road-killing.
