This endemic species is extremely rare. It inhabits mainly inland wetlands and forests of Amboli in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining. Currently, its population size is unknown. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to large scale agriculture, tourism, and other human encroachments like logging (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group 2011).
